Our client is a UK branch of a global leader in packaging supplying. They have a vast history spanning over 100 plus years! They have a fantastic team of packaging experts and a vast network of suppliers and storage facilities worldwide. They are recruiting for a Head of Logistics to join the team and continue delivering exceptional packaging solutions to customers across the globe.
As the Head of logistics, you will oversee daily freight and inventory operations in the UK, focusing on Outbound Logistics and inventory management.
You will collaborate with the EMEA Freight Centre of Excellence (CoE) to enhance inbound shipments and formulate UK Logistics market strategies to deliver top-notch service to customers at competitive prices.
The ideal candidate should have prior experience in managing people in a logistics environment and be enthusiastic about mentoring, leading, and nurturing their team.
Your main Responsibilities will include:
Managing outbound freight to enhance service and reduce costs.
Leading outbound road freight tenders with EMEA CoE support.
Collaborating with EMEA CoE to optimise inbound/international freight.
Providing guidance to EMEA CoE on inbound freight tendering.
Supervising accurate and timely stock administration in third-party and managed locations.
Negotiate rates with carriers, running regular tenders.
You will also oversee two small teams of Logistics Specialists one team are responsible for outbound freight and the other team are freight and inventory administrators.
We are looking for a candidate with a deep understanding of the UK freight environment, including import and export processes, with a minimum of five years of experience.
We want someone with a demonstrated track record in supervising a team within a complex import/export environment Experience in leadership and resource management, including the ability to collaborate, motivate, and coach others.
Proficient in organisational and interpersonal skills, effective negotiation, influencing others, and adept at conflict resolution familiarity with Transport Management Systems and a hands-on knowledge of the transportation and warehousing industry.
Current knowledge of customs procedures and compliance, a person who is proficient in Project Management, with a creative approach, taking ownership of projects from start to finish with the ability to achieve financial objectives and have strong communication skills in English, including verbal, written, and presentation abilities.
